Applications 40G QSFP+ and 100G QSFP28 (Base-8) to SFP Duplex Networks

The 40G QSFP+ and 100G QSFP28 transceivers are designed for high-speed data centers and enterprise networks. Base-8 fiber optics support 8-fiber MPO connectors, enabling parallel transmission with high throughput and scalability. When connecting to SFP duplex networks (typically running at 10G or 25G speeds), these transceivers can be used in breakout configurations, where each fiber pair from the QSFP is split into separate duplex channels.

This solution provides an adaptable, cost-effective way to support growing bandwidth needs in modern network environments. This setup is ideal for:

Data Aggregation:
Efficiently connecting high-capacity 40G and 100G ports to lower-speed 10G or 25G devices, optimizing data flow.

Data Center Interconnects:
Enabling flexible, scalable networking in data centers with a mix of speeds and port densities.

Cost Savings and Adaptability:
Allows organizations to leverage existing SFP-based infrastructure while upgrading to higher speeds in stages.

Duplex Fiber Networking

Serial transmission of duplex signals using Base-8 MPO cables

Rack to Rack via Distribution Area Structured Cabling

Integrating a distribution area with duplex cross-connects is simple by using standard A-B LC duplex patch cords within the patching area, which ensures polarity is maintained.

Between Distribution Areas Structured Cabling

Adding a second distribution area with extra cross-connects is also easy. Simply use additional MTP®-LC cassettes, MTP® (MPO) trunks, and LC duplex patch cords as cross-connects within the patching area. Ensure consistency by using A-B LC duplex patch cables at every connection point.
